I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Finland Horns Set Play by Dana Beszczynski

Finland ran a lot of quick hitting actions during the European Championship and here is a traditional Horns set incorporating a number of scoring opportunities depending on how the defense plays the entry pass.

The main advantage of the Horns Set Play offense is that it can be set up with entries into any other offense.  If a team wants to run the flex offense and needs a way to get into a half court setting then they can run the play out of the Horns Set Play Offense.  The Horns Set Play Offense will allow for multiple looks and plays.

The second advantage of the Horns Set Play Offense is that allows a team to take advantage of skilled big men.  The Horns Set Play offense will need the big men to play away from the basket and have a skill set that is like a perimeter player.  He will need to be a scoring threat and shoot the mid-range or three point shot.  They will put the basketball on the floor.

The final advantage is the Horns Set Play Offense can be effectively utilize a point guard that is the best player on team.  Steve Nash is one of the best point guards that can take advantage of his play-making skills and work in the framework of the offense.
