Favorite Sets of 2021- College Edition by Chris Filios
Here are just some of my favorite sets of the 2021 college basketball season, featuring top 10 offensive teams- Gonzaga, Kansas, and Purdue. It is still quite early on in the season, but there have been a number of great, quality sets that have caught my eye. I never cease to be amazed at the creativity of coaches to find different ways to attack and beat defenses.
Loop Iverson Get Zoom from Arizona State:
The Zags ran this set out of a timeout against Texas Tech. It is designed to attack Texas Tech’s hard no middle, strong help defensive scheme. On the penetration to the baseline, x3 will be forced to help to leave 3 open for a kick out of the lift.
DHO Double Rip- Utah:
Ram Ghost Slip- Minnesota:
Zoom Rip- Xavier:
Flip Chin Chicago- Michigan:
Zoom Double Gap- Kansas:
High PNR- Kansas:
PNR Double Gap- Sam Houston State:
Weave Spain PNR- B
Weave Split Twist Triple- Purdue:
When Matt Painter’s team breaks into the weave, look out for the misdirection.
Ram Ghost PNR- Michigan:
I am a huge fan of the stuff that Juwan Howard runs. He has taken his NBA experience and applied it to college. It is extremely difficult for x4 to defend the ghost action and then tag the roll man on the PNR action. The high shake action by 4 really puts stress on the defense.
BLOB: Flat Double Pin Curl- Colorado State:
