Trent Johnson Nike Clinic Notes
Today I wanted to bring you clinic notes from Coach Trent Johnson as he teaches us his half court man offense at the Nike basketball coaches’ clinic. Coach Johnson is the head coach at Texas Christian University and is in his 33rd year of coaching. Coach Johnson has previously held the Head Basketball Coach duties at Louisiana State University, Stanford University, and the University of Nevada prior to becoming the Head Coach at TCU. Trent Johnson just completed his first year of coaching at TCU and during his first year led the “Horn Frogs” to their first Big 12 victory, and first win over a top 5 ranked opponent.
Coach Johnson’s notes are fairly brief but there are definitely great points and he teaches us about offense but also about how we ought to provide opportunities for our players to be successful on that end. As you read Coach Johnson’s notes think about the team you have and if you are maximizing the talent on your team and are you playing to the style of your team. Trent Johnson believes that it is important to have an effective system for the players you have on your squad.

Put a system together to play against all levels and all kinds of players.
Every program has signature of the way they play.
Cards system – every time we come down the floor, we have a quick hitter, Why?
1. Give opportunity to get guys to make plays. 2. They need help end of game.
