"The Street Stops Here" Review | It airs tonight on PBS at 10pm (ET)

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

UPDATE: “The Street Stops Here” will appear nationally on PBS Wednesday, March 31 at 10 p.m.

I have gotten to know one of the Excutive producer (Rashon Burno)from my website and he told me about his project. I was able to get an advance copy of the movie to review it for them.

I receieved the film, “The Street Stops Here,” which documents Bob Hurley’s 2007-08 St. Anthony Friars, who went a perfect 32-0 en route to the New Jersey Tournament of Champions title and won a national-record 25th state championship.

I was able to watch it in my living room and loved this movie. It was inspiring and touched me. It reminded me why I love high school basketball. If you are a basketball fan or just love human drama / “real life events” then you need to tune in tonight.

It was directed by Kevin Shaw and producted by TeamWords Media. They did a wonderful job of compiling this film.

This film is a “Who’s Who” of basketball players in this film: Mike Rosario (Rutgers), Travon Woodall (Pittsburgh), Dominic Cheek (Villanova), Tyshawn Taylor (Kansas), Jio Fontan and Alberto Estwick (Fordham) and A.J. Rogers (St. Joseph’s), North Carolina Roy Williams, and Duke Mike Krzyzewski.

It also has former St. Anthony’s players: Jerry Walker (who starred at Seton Hall) and Rashon Burno (who serves as an executive producer). It included Tyreke Evans, Kobe Bryant and Lance Stephenson in game footage.

It is just a great story that tells the “Good, Bad, and Ugly” of Prep School basketball. I really enjoyed it so much. You need to watch it tonight.
