DDM Hooptalk | Question and Answer session by Marc Hart

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Here is the question: I was wondering if you had any good drills, or tips on improving my players ability to attack off the dribble.  I know your a DDM guy.  We run a lot of true motion and some sets.  We will have a small team this year and very little post presence.  Want to get our guys going to the basket more.  Any thanks would be appreciated.

Coach Hart’s Response: I would suggest playing a lot of 1 on 1 and restrict dribbles and only allow layups. Also would start using the Blood drills in practice.
