Chris Mack Xavier Basketball Diamond Blob Play

This xavier basketball set play is a baseline out of bounds against man to man defense. The shot is a quick fifteen foot pull up off of a post player’s screen. The timing of the first movement is important to get the defense moving and open up the possibility for an easy layup.

The five man cuts out 10-15’ and the four man at the top of the key should time his cut to rub his man off of the three man standing at the elbow for the possible layup. (The four man will be open if the on ball defender is face guarding the inbounder. If the on ball defender is under the basket in help side position the pass probably won’t be open)

Once the four man cuts to the basket the five man turns and sets a back screen for the three man who cuts to the ball for the jump shot. I would add another segment to this set in case the defense guards the inbound and the three man doesn’t have a shot. Have the two guard (inbounder) cut off the backside screen from the four guard and the ball can be reversed.
