Play of the Week: Kansas EOG BLOB

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Play of the Week: Kansas EOG BLOB

#5 Kansas 56 – #14 Texas Tech 57. 14.0 seconds left. Kansas ball under Texas Tech’s basket. Game on the line.

Kansas coach Bill Self drew up a beauty out of the timeout and his team executed it to perfection leading to a lay-in and a 1 point lead with 13 seconds left in the game. Tech’s defense broke down and blew their coverage, in what looked like it was supposed to be a switch.

This is a play that Kansas used and scored on last year against Texas Tech as well.

Self is one of the best offensive minds in college basketball. It showed with this creative late-game baseline out of bounds set play.

This matchup was a tough, competitive matchup between two teams that will compete
