Brad Underwood Spread Offense Quick Hitters

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Brad Underwood Spread Offense Quick Hitters

Here are some Brad Underwood Spread Offense Quick Hitters that he passed out at the TABC in San Antonio this past month. I really loved how Coach Underwood had his Stephen F. Austin team playing in the NCAA Tournament and they barely got beat by that Notre Dame fluke tip-in.

From what I am told, his team had it’s first summer session this past week. They will be shaping their identity as Coach Underwood is going to take the long approach with them. He will know how the summer went in February and March. They put their guards through drills led by new assistant coach Lamont Evans and they are now entering week 2 of it’s off-season program. This will be the first chance that Coach Underwood and his staff will get to individually work with each player.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys full basketball team is on campus now, that includes four freshmen who signed letters of intent — guards Brandon Averette, Thomas Dziagwa and Lindy Waters, and forward Cameron McGriff. Also the returners from the end of last season, Phil Forte and Jawun Evans are both back on the court.

Coach Underwood has told reporters that the leadership of Phil Forte and fellow senior Leyton Hammonds makes him feel like they have a chance to be successful because those guys work hard.

Right now, Coach Underwood is trying to get those two guys to establish the kind of culture that they want at Oklahoma State University. It’s not just X’s and O’s, but the culture.

Jawun Evans is back on the court now too. He is returning from a shoulder injury that required surgery. They are pushing him hard to get better. Coach Underwood spoke to the team about “pulling for each other” and “fighting for each other”. He is hoping that this summer’s objectives are teamwork and improvemetn.

As of right now, the Cowboys have 12 scholarship players for 2016-17. Whether OSU adds a 13th remains to be seen — 7-foot Dutch center Lucas N’Guessan still appears to be a possibility, but that still stands as unconfirmed.
