Serbia Basketball Dribble Hand-off Seal Play | 2015 World University Games

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Serbia Basketball Dribble Hand-off Seal Play

The 2015 World University Games is international basketball and it’s a different style of basketball given the slight variation on certain rules, a wider lane and a 24 second shot clock. You can tell from this 2015 World University Games video clip of Serbia and Kansas that the level of competition is different. I have to wonder about the strategy that Serbia used in the final seconds of the Kansas 66-65 victory.

With the score tied at 65-65, and Kansas looking for the game-winning basket, the Serbian team intentionally fouled Kansas Guard Wayne Selden, putting him at the free throw lane. Selden made one of the two free throws and the serbian team came up empty in their final chances. Kansas, which is representing the United States at the international tournament, move to 4-0 in Gwangju, South Korea.

I still liked this basketball dribble hand-off seal play that Serbia ran against Kansas. I love dribble hand-off plays because they are hard to guard. This basketball dribble hand-off play sets up a different type of high-low entry for your post player. Its great stuff. You will have to download it and take a look at it.

Kansas University Basketball Coach Bill Self pays the Serbian National Team the ultimate compliment in this video during the 2015 World University Games. He believed that they were hard to guard because of the ball screen action and the fact that the point guard was really good. The Kansas University basketball team had no gas left in the tank after this game. They were glad to win this game.

If you haven’t checked out the 2015 World University Games then you need to. You will find some different set plays to implement for your team.
