I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Klay Thompson Golden State Warriors Pinch Post Play

Klay Thompson saw his Golden State Warriors were tied with the Sacremento Kings at 58 apiece with 10 minutes left in the third quarter. When the buzzer ended the third quarter, the NBA’s best team had rocketed to a 97-73 lead thanks to the heroics of a soon to be NBA All Star in Klay Thompson.

Klay Thompson has never been an NBA All-Star, but it is very safe to say that he will get to participate in the New York NBA All Star Weekend after this game.

No one in NBA history has ever gone off for 37 points in one quarter. Wilt Chamberlain didn’t score 37 during any quarter of his 100-point outing. Kobe Bryant didn’t when he torched the Toronto Raptors for 81 points. George Gervin and Carmelo Anthony were actually tied for the league record—”only” 33.

Klay Thompson single handedly out scored the Kings in the third quarter, 37-22.

Klay Thompson was drilling contested and non-contested three point shots. He was knocking down step-back jumpers in the corn, he was basically hitting everything.

He told the reporters that the last time that he went on a scoring rush like that was in the fourth grade.

Steve Kerr was not happy with his team after halftime. He had told his team to run whatever they wanted. They ran just two plays to get Klay Thompson the ball. This play is one of them.

The Golden State Warriors almost traded Klay Thompson for Kevin Love, but the Golden State brass decided against it after some deliberation.

They were widely mocked at the Las Vegas Summer League for over-valuing their own guy, most NBA scouts thought that Thompson was a good player near his ceiling. He shot 3s, played hard on defense, and there wasn’t a prevailing expectation for massive growth beyond that.

If this season is to be believed, Thompson has made huge strides, demolishing even the most optimistic projections. Bluntly put, he has been better than Kevin Love so far.
