Chicago Bulls Triangle Stack Set Play by Jacob Collins

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Here is a set from last years Chicago Bulls team. This is another example of how knowing your personnel and where they like the ball helps you become a better coach. This is a set with one of the Bulls crunch time lineups (Rose-1, Korver-2, Deng-3, Boozer-4, Noah-5) and it has a spot where each of them are set up to score. It sets a pin-down for the shooter Korver to start, gives Boozer a chance to slide to the left side short corner for a jumper, Noah ducking in, Deng isolations, and Derrick Rose in the open floor. Sets like this is how Coach Thibodeau keeps the Bulls running on all cylinders without Derrick Rose.
