Basketball Coaching | Learn the Swing Offense from the Wisconsin Badgers | Bo Ryan Swing Offense, Set Plays, and Counters | David Preheim

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Bo Ryan has been in the basketball coaching community for 36 years and he gets a lot of flak for his style of play.  His Wisconsin Badgers are number one in scoring defense again also. Coach Ryan has been questioned about his offensive and defensive style of play so much lately.  His team makes basketball plays from their playbook that is so fundamental that it looks like it is taken from a high school.

Bo Ryan’s basketball coaching style is something that works well in the Big Ten.  Heck, it works well overall.  They are in the Sweet 16 for the third time in five years, and fourth in seven years.  I call that winning.

If there is one knock about Bo Ryan’s basketball coaching then it’s the fact that he hasn’t taken them to the Final Four.  The thing is that we are talking about Wisconsin.  They have only had two “top 50” recruits ever.  It’s amazing that he has them making basketball plays and competing on such a high level.

David Preheim is doing an awesome job showing us this Bo Ryan – Wisconsin Badger’s Swing Offense Playbook today. It’s the little things that will help you win basketball games.  I think that you will love looking at the set plays and counters that can be run with the swing offense.
