Top Scoring Offense – The Citadel Set Plays by Wes Kosel
The Citadel was the second best scoring offense in NCAA Division 1 this past season averaging 86.0 points per game. Led by Duggar Baucom, he just finished his first season as the Head Coach at The Citadel. The Citadel was a very good team in transition this season and were able to score in a variety of ways. Before taking over for The Citadel, Baucom coached at VMI for ten seasons and at Tusculum for two seasons. Before becoming a head coach, he spent time as an assistant coach at Davidson, Mars Hill, Northwestern State, and Western Carolina. His offense has been called the “sprint and strike” and “loot and shoot” due to it’s fast paced style. In the videos, they move the ball well and are able to get open 3-point shots quickly in the offense. The Citadel Set Plays pdf features 5 plays from Coach Baucom.

Quick Flare
This is an easy quick-hitting 3-point play. The 3 sets a flare for 4 running up the floor in transition.
BLOB Pass and Pin
The ball is thrown inbounds and a down screen is set for 1 who just threw it in. 1 cuts out to the corner or wing for a shot.
Side Pick and Flare
This is a nice action for when the ballhandler turns down a ball screen. In Baucom’s offense, when a ballhandler turns down a side ball screen the screener turns to screen for the point guard.
Horns Quick Pin
This play works great if your 4 man can shoot quickly from deep.
