I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Tony Shaver William & Mary Tribe Offense – 4 Out Motion Offense Basic Movement

The 4 Out Motion Offense play starts with the point guard passing to 3 in the corner then cutting through to the opposite corner. 2 and 4 fill the spots on the perimeter, and 3 passes to 2. Once 2 has the ball, 5 cuts up from the elbow. 2 passes to 5, then cuts toward him looking for a hand-off. If the hand-off isn’t there, 2 angles out towards the corner and screen for 3. 3 reads his defender and either cuts up to the wing (Option 1) or cuts back-door (Option 2). If the ball ends up on the wing, 5 sets a wing ball-screen then rolls to the basket. The player at the basket runs up to the top of the key for a shot. If 3 doesn’t have a shot, he dribbles toward 4 and gives him a dribble hand-off. Once 4 has the ball, 5 sets a flare screen for 2. If the flare isn’t there, 4 looks back-door to 3 or passes to 1 on the wing. 4 then cuts off of a screen from 5, and 3 cuts up to the top of the key on the same screen. If neither are open, 5 and 3 set a staggered screen for 2 on the opposite wing.
