Lason Perkins’ Backdoor Plays Dvd: Score uncontested layups with cutting-edge backdoor plays

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Have you ever seen a team that seemed to score backdoor plays with the greatest of ease?  We all know about stellar basketball offenses used throughout the years by teams such as Princeton which displayed this mastery of getting open layups for all their players. It’s one of the most basic basketball plays but also one of the hardest to defend, if you are doing it right.  But once the defense figures out how you are doing it, what to do then?  Thankfully, you can learn more than one way to master backdoor plays so you can have multiple ways to score with this classic basketball play.  One such way is by checking out the “Lason Perkins’ Backdoor Plays” DVD.

The best offenses who run backdoor plays sets see success because the concepts are movements which are drilled into them day after day in practice.  To really have a team master this kind of offense, you first have to learn it yourself.  Next, you have to have your kids practice how to do it until they can do it in their sleep.  Then, you have to be relentless in its implementation in game situations.  Teach your players to be patient and to keep running the defense around in circles until they see that opportunity to cup to the hoop and get an easy score with the backdoor.  You don’t have to have the best dribblers, but you do need to coach your team to be proficient and clinical in passing, which can be taught to just about any group of players as long as they are behind you and your concepts.

You may know that Michigan State, Butler, Princeton (of course), Kansas and North Carolina are among the teams that run offenses which successfully utilize backdoor plays to frustrate opponents. They all use different methods of achieving the same goal. And Coach Lason Perkins can break it all down for you if you let him, and check out this coaching DVD.

You can learn different alignments and even get a printout which you can add to your playbook for reference during games. No matter the ability of your team, they can effectively learn how to score easy with these kinds of sets. The layup is of course the easiest way to score, in basketball. If you can really master backdoor plays you will always have a way to score when your shooters might be having off games.
