Here are two set plays from Spain National Team Head Coach Sergio Scariolo. Scarlio has been the head coach of Spain since 2015, and has been the head coach of many international teams including Laboral Kutxa, EA7 Milano, Khimki Moscow, Unicaja, Real Madrid, and several more. He was the Italian League Champion in 1990, the Italian Coach of the Year in 1994, two-time Spanish Cup Champion, two-time Spanish League Champion, AEEB Coach of the Year, and three-time EuroBasket Gold Medalist. Spain won the Bronze Medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics and won the EuroBasket Gold Medal in 2015. The Summer Olympics roster included Pau Gasol, Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Rodriguez, Juan Carlos Navarro, Sergio Lull, Nikola Mirotic, and Ricky Rubio.

Post to Step Up
In this play, 1 passes to 2 on the wing and 2 looks to 4 posting up inside. 4 holds for a second and works his defender to see if he can get the ball from 2. If not, 4 steps out to set a step up screen (with his back to the baseline) for 2. 2 drives baseline and 4 can roll or pop towards the elbow for a shot.
Shuffle Stagger Spain
This play starts in a 2-3 high set and 1 passes to 2 on the right wing then makes a shallow cut to the right corner. 2 reverses the ball to 4 who passes to 3, and once 3 has the ball on the wing 5 steps over to set a shuffle screen for 2. 2 cuts to the middle of the lane and 5 and 4 set a staggered screen for 1 in the corner. If 1 doesn’t have a shot, he dribbles left off of a ball screen from 4. 2 sets a back screen for 4 on the ball screen roll (Spain Action). 5 spaces to the corner.
