Wes Kosel will enter his first season as an Assistant Coach at Augustana University under Tom Billeter in 2016-2017. Kosel came to Sioux Falls after two season at Colorado College as the lead assistant. Kosel, a native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, served as an assistant coach at Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Texas Lutheran University from 2012-2014. Kosel graduated from the University of Kansas in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He also has a master’s degree in physical education from the University of Houston. While attending Kansas, Kosel served as an assistant coach at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. A life-long student of the game, Kosel honed his coaching skills by working summer camps for various programs in Texas, Colorado, Missouri, and New Mexico. Kosel also is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Certified Personal Trainer, both of which are certifications earned through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Kosel and his wife, Molly, live in Colorado Springs.

The Spurs also lead the NBA in field goal percentage and are second in field goal percentage defense behind the Chicago Bulls.

1 passes to 5 at the high post and looks to get the hand-off back from 5. If 1 isn’t open, he continues to the corner to screen for 3. 3 then loops around 5 looking for a hand-off. If 3 isn’t open, 5 passes out to 1 and sets a ball-screen.

1 passes to 5 and 4 makes a cut down to the block. 1 loops around 5 looking for a hand-off. If it isn’t open, 5 passes to 2. 1 and 5 then set a staggered screen for 3. Again if the play doesn’t score on these options 5 can pass to the wing and set a ball-screen.

1 passes to 5 and loops around to set a down-screen in the corner. 5 then dribbles middle as 4 sets a down-screen for 2. 5 gives the ball to 2 on a hand-off.

Wes Kosel is an assistant coach for men’s basketball under Head Coach Andy Partee at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. Kosel joined the staff at Colorado College after serving two seasons as an assistant coach at Texas Lutheran University and one season at Haskell Indian Nations University. He is also the head coach for the JV team at Colorado College. Kosel has an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas and a master’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Houston. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), both certifications given through the National Strength & Conditioning Association. He has coached summer AAU programs, volunteered with elementary and middle school basketball teams, and has worked basketball camps for various programs including the Houston Rockets, USA Basketball, University of Houston, Colorado, New Mexico, Air Force, Texas State, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Kosel is also a member of the NABC International Committee and serves as the committee’s social media manager.
