I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

One of this season’s surprises in men’s college basketball is the Purdue Boilermakers Basketball Team. After an early season let down in the Bahamas where they took 7th place, Purdue has righted the ship. They are currently the hottest team in college basketball, boiling hot. They just completed their toughest week of the season since their trip to the Bahamas, with wins at Michigan and Minnesota. They have won 13 games in a row and now look to be the favorite to win the very competitive Big Ten as they sit tied atop of the conference at 6-0 with Ohio State.

The Purdue Boilermakers Basketball Team have risen to #3 in the country and was named one of the #1 seeds in Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology, joining Villanova, Virginia, and Duke. While they aren’t the sexiest, most athletic, or most talented team, but they may be the most complete team. They have size, depth, perimeter shooting, and plenty of experience. It is difficult to find a weakness with this team. They have great balance as 4 players average in double figures scoring, and a 5th at 8.4 points per game. They shoot 50% from the field and 41% from 3. Their inside-out philosophy creates great balance and team shots. This is a well disciplined, poised, and tough basketball team that doesn’t beat themselves. The next time the Purdue Boilermakers Basketball Team are in action is when host Wisconsin on 1/16 and then travel to Iowa City to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes on 1/20, both games that they will be favored in. While there are certainly no gimmies in the Big Ten, Purdue’s next big game will be on 1/25 when they host the #23 ranked Michigan Wolverines.
