White took over for the Gators after Billy Donovan left to coach the Oklahoma City Thunder. Before moving to Florida, White was the head coach of Louisiana Tech where he went 101-40 in four seasons. After losing 16 games his first year at Louisiana Tech, he never lost more than 9 games in a season from 2013-2015. In all, he has a 122-55 career record as a head coach. White played at Ole Miss and had a short international playing career before getting into coaching. He started as an assistant at Jacksonville State and was moved up to an associate head coach for the 2003-2004 season. He then went to Ole Miss as an assistant coach from 2004-2011 before taking the head coaching job at Louisiana Tech in 2011. He won several awards while coaching Louisiana Tech including the USBWA District VII Coach of the Year, NABC District 6 Coach of the Year, WAC Don Haskins Coach of the Year, LABC Louisiana Major College Coach of the Year, C-USA Gene Bartow Coach of the Year, and NABC District 11 Coach of the Year.
