Bo Ryan Wisconsin Badgers Offense

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Mike DAntoni LA Lakers Wall Offense by Wes Kosel

Here are 4 options out of the wall offense from Coach D’Antoni. In addition, a sideline out-of-bounds play is included to show how to get into the wall formation after passing the ball in.

Mike DAntoni LA Lakers Wall Offense – Option 1

In option 1, 1 dribbles toward 2 on the wing and gives the ball to 2 on a dribble hand-off. 2 first looks to attack off of the hand-off, but if a drive isn’t open he has passing options. His first option is 1 popping to the corner. 2’s second passing option is to pass to 3 cutting off of a double screen from 4 and 5.

Mike DAntoni LA Lakers Wall Offense – Option 2

In option 2, 2 makes a zipper cut up the floor and receives a pass from 1. 4 then steps out and receives a pass from 2. 1, 5, and 3 move towards the same spot on the opposite wing to set up in the 3-man wall. Once all three players are set, they cut at the same time. 1 cuts to the low post, 5 screens for 3, and 3 steps in behind the screen for a shot. If neither option is there, 2 comes back from the corner and loops around 4 for a dribble hand-off. 5 and 3 set a staggered screen for 1 for a shot.

Mike DAntoni LA Lakers Wall Offense – Option 3

In option 3, 2 sets a ball-screen for 4 instead of cutting to the corner. 4 drives to the basket looking for 1 cutting to the basket or to 2 on the pick-and-pop.

Mike DAntoni LA Lakers Wall Offense – Option 4

In option 4, 2 cuts through to the corner. 5, 1, and 3 are set up in the wall. 5 steps across the lane and sets a ball-screen for 4. 3 and 1 step out to clear space for 4 and 5 on the pick-and-roll.

Mike DAntoni LA Lakers Wall Offense – Wall SLOB

1 starts at the low post and cuts up the floor to receive the pass from 2. Once the ball is inbounds, 5, 4, and 2 step together to form the 3-man wall. 1 dribbles across and passes to 3 at the high post. From here, any of the 4 options above can be used.
