Mark Turgeon Maryland Terripans Hand-off Action by Dana Beszczynski
The Mark Turgeon Maryland Terripans are coming off a HUGE 86-82 victory against the Michigan Wolverines at the Xfinity Center. The Terps were on a two game losing streak which had been difficult for the Number 6 Terps and Star player Melo Trimble.
The Mark Turgeon Maryland Terripans had just had a home lost to Wisconsin on Feb 13 and Trimble shot 3 for 11 and finished with six turnovers in thursday’s loss at Minnesota, two of them in the final minute. He also had six assists.
Melo Trimble didn’t shoot well against the Michigan Wolverines, being 3 for 10 overall and 1 for 4 on 3 pointers. He finished with 14 points and 7 for 8 shooting from the foul line, and eight rebounds.
Mark Turgeon knows that he needs to smile more like Melo Trimble even when they are losing. He has a fantastic job, Number 6 in the country and they can turn the tide very quickly.
The Mark Turgeon Maryland Terripans are going to start to close out games, because that is what Melo Trimble does most night since his freshman year. He’s going to make people foul him and he will knock down free throws. He will be the point guard that he is suppose to be.
After the win Sunday, Coach Turgeon mentioned tht Maryland’s record the year before Trimble arrived was a disappointing 17-15. The Terps are 51-12 since.
Coach Turgeon said, his voice choking a little and his eyes moistening. “I don’t. I love that kid.”
I believe that the Mark Turgeon Maryland Terripans will go on a HUGE run through their conference tournament and the NCAA Tournament. Point Guard play is HUGE in the NCAA Tournamene
