Lon Kruger Oklahoma Sooners NCAA Tournament Plays by Wes Kosel
Attached are two plays used by Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lon Kruger during the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners are looking to advance to the Elite 8 if they can beat Michigan State on Friday. In Kruger’s four seasons in Norman, he has led the Sooners to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Kruger is in his 29th season as a head coach. He has now led four different programs to at least the Sweet 16 (Kansas State, Florida, UNLV, and Oklahoma) and has taken 5 programs to the NCAA Tournament (adding Illinois). Leading up to this game, Kruger has compiled an 82-48 record at OU. In the games against Albany and Dayton, the Sooners have not found the offensive rhythm they are accustomed too. However, in the first half against Dayton, the Sooners shot an impressive 61.5% from 3-point range. If the Sooners can shoot like this moving forward in the tournament, they will be tough to beat.
