Horns Point Away Counter
In this horns set, the point guard enters the ball to the high post then cuts away (around the opposite high post player) to screen for 3 in the corner. The first option out of this play is for 3 to use the screen and cut up for a shot or a handoff from 4. In this counter, 3 makes a back cut to the basket and 1 turns to use the screen from 5 and get a handoff from 4 dribbling towards the action. As 1 is driving the ball to the right, 5 and 4 move down to set a staggered screen for 3 who cuts out for a shot. The staggered screen takes 5 and 4’s defenders away from the action as 1 is driving. 1 can also look to kick out to 2 in the corner if x2 helps on the drive.
