Horns Stagger Series by Wes Kosel
The horns set is incredibly popular right now with many coaches from high school, college, international, NBA, and other professional basketball leagues using it. One of the benefits of the horns set is the variety of actions you can run with relative simplicity. Horns sets can also provide great spacing for your point guard to work off the dribble, your bigs to work the middle of the floor, and for your shooters to spot up in the corners or on the wing. You can also run horns and get into any type of offense that you want from the set. It just takes a little creativity, but you can mask your offense with a quick horns set if desired. This playbook will look at four options from the horns stagger series, which starts the play with a staggered screen from 4 and 5 at the top of the key. This ball screen can be difficult to guard since it is in the middle of the floor. Many teams will struggle to try to “ice” or “down” this action, and counters can be put in against teams that hard hedge or switch the ball screen.

Horns Screen the Screener
