Fred Hoiberg Chicago Bulls

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Fred Hoiberg Chicago Bulls Pitch Series

The Fred Hoiberg Chicago Bulls victory over the Washington Wizards might have been the best wing that Coach Fred Hoiberg has since he took over the Chicago Bulls head coaching job. The game featured no Derrick Rose, no Jimmy Butler, and no starting point guard. The Fred Hoiberg Chicago Bulls scored 109 points and had several different Chicago Bulls players in double figures, where they were fueled by Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson. Passing is their weapon of choice where the ball can travel far faster than any player on the court, passing is most crucial element to satisfy the goals that they try to accomplish with a quick offense and spacing the floor.

This performance by the Fred Hoiberg Chicago Bulls have setting goals for each game for them to be successful which is at least five players in double figures and to out assist their NBA opponent. They need to build a team identity on offense which is one of the reason that Tom Thibodeau lost his job, promoting the basketball element that will influence success in Fred Hoiberg’s system more than any other.

It’s going to take time for the Fred Hoiberg Chicago Bulls to take shape and they are going to have to pass the more and not pound the dribble. Isolation sets will slow them down. Every win in 2016 for the Chicago Bulls with at least five players in double figures and out assisting their opponent have been few and far in between. Most of the Chicago Bulls losses in 2016 have seen the other team register more assists.

People might think that Fred Hoiberg isn’t running the right scheme in his first year with the Bulls, but the team’s offense performance over the season shows that his heart is in the right place with respect to his personnel. They have to run quick and spread out offense that requires a lot of passing to achieve positive results. This roster has proven capable of such ball movement and diverse scoring at times, but they haven’t been consistent on a regular basis.

The Fred Hoiberg Chicago Bulls passing record shows that if they buy in, then victories will come more than not. It’s just up to the players to buy in. They are going to have to get a team identity on offense to move forward if they are going to realize thier championship dreams with this group.
