I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. You change mentality by changing IQ
Teach kids to win, even in summer league

Develop skills in 3 on 3 scenarios. Very few play pick up basketball anymore.

You are either open or OPEN. Players must learn to recognize how to get open.

Cross train in drills. Focus on one skill to develop but utilize multiple skills in a drill

Communication=Concentration Coach talking by Saying and doing the action. This helps players work on both Skill and vocabulary. Help them know their objective.

Create smarter players by creating better habits

On V-Cuts throw hands to simulate bigger movement

Go Low into screens for added explosiveness

Rip and roar/ Rip to score. rip opposite the screen to allow a cleaner pick

Dibble at , backdoor cuts, shallow cuts or skip cuts to increase possibility of teammates being open

Kids like to play fast slow them down for execution, allow the defense time to screw up

Coaching Notes | Frank Allocco 2012 Nike Las Vegas Clinic Notes

Nothing in basketball is meaningless. Know your purpose

Basketball is about creating one second windows

Rebounding is essential and must be a cultural element of your team

Have a summer theme. A singular goal that will be a focus.

Teach kids:
Greatness is gonna come, be prepared for it.

Set the table for greatness. Do the thing that you need to do to be great or become great.

Find ways to motivate and inside your team.
