Ettore Messina 2013 Euroleague Final Four CSKA Moscow Set Play

CSKA Moscow Set Play

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

2013 Euroleague Final Four CSKA Moscow Set Play

Today’s basketball plays are on the CSKA Moscow and the Euroleague Final Four 2013. CSKA Moscow held on to beat FC Barcelona Regal 74-73 to win the third place game at the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four at The O2 in London… This is one of the most interesting CSKA Moscow Set Play you will find online.

Ettore Messina is famous for his imaginative plays and this is a great set plays implemented by CSKA Moscow while he was there. I choose many of my set plays from European teams and coach Messina’s CSKA Moscow is one of the teams I’ve been watching carefully. They played a dominating basketball with coach Messina. The Russian team is famous for the athletic ability of its players. Coach Messina takes advantage of this to create unbalance in the opposing defense. His teams are famous for “reading” well the opposing defenses and hitting on their weaknesses. In this play CSKA Moscow hits on Barcelona’s inability to cope with their post players scoring skills near the rim.

Right now coach Messina is Gregg Popovich’s assistant coach. By many people he is consider to be coach Pop’s successor in the position of San Antonio Spurs head coach.  I hope that you enjoy this set play from Tomasz Niedbalski who is the Head coach  of the WKK Wroclaw youth teams.
