Doug Wojcik Tulsa Golden Hurricane Set Plays by Wes Kosel
Attached are five set plays from Coach Wojcik’s coaching days at Tulsa. Wojcik most recently coached at College of Charleston, and before that spent seven years as the Head Coach at Tulsa. Before taking the reins as a head coach, Wojcik spent time as an assistant at Michigan State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Navy. Wojcik played alongside David Robinson at Navy and played for Paul Evans and Pete Herrmann. From 1983-1987, the Midshipmen were 106-25 including three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and an Elite Eight appearance in 1986.

1 dribbles to the right wing then back towards the top of the key off of a staggered screen from 5 and 4. If 1 cannot turn the corner to score, he continues towards the opposite wing to give the ball to 3 on a dribble hand-off. At the same time, 5 and 4 set a staggered screen for 2 in the corner. 3 looks to score as he drives middle or can pass out to 2 for a shot.

1 gives the ball to 2 on a dribble hand-off as 4 and 5 set a staggered screen for 3. 2 looks to score or pass to 3 for a shot.
Doug Wojcik Tulsa Golden Hurricane Set Plays – Slice
1 dribbles right as 4 and 5 set a staggered screen for 2 in the corner. 2 cuts from the corner to the top of the key and gets the pass from 1. 3 moves to the opposite corner. 2 looks to shoot or dribbles left and passes to 5 posting up.

1 dribbles off of a ball-screen from 4. 5 moves across the lane. 2 sets a back-screen on 4. 4 cuts to the basket looking for the lob pass from 1.

1 passes to 4 who passes to 3. 5 and 2 follow the ball and move to the right and left blocks. 4 sets a ball-screen for 3. As 3 drives middle, 2 screens across for 5. 3 looks to score or pass to 5 at the basket.
Wes Kosel is an assistant coach for men’s basketball under Head Coach Andy Partee at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. Kosel joined the staff at Colorado College after serving two seasons as an assistant coach at Texas Lutheran University and one season at Haskell Indian Nations University. Kosel has an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas, and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Houston. The Bartlesville, OK native is also a NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a certified personal trainer (NSCA-CPT), and taught weight training and aerobic fitness courses while coaching at Texas Lutheran. He has coached AAU programs, volunteered with elementary and middle school basketball teams, and has worked basketball camps for various programs including the Houston Rockets, University of Houston, Texas State, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
