Chris Mack – Box Clear Roll Replace

This play starts in a box set with 3 and 2 on the left side of the floor. 3 screens for 2 who cuts to the left wing to get the ball. Once 2 has it, 5 cuts out to the left corner and 3 posts up. 4 sets a back screen for 1 who cuts to the rim looking for a lob pass. If the lob isn’t there, 2 dribbles off of a ball screen from 4 and looks to attack going right. 1 clears out to the corner and as 2 drives middle, 4 rolls into the lane and 3 replaces 4. The benefit of this is that 3 is replacing out for a 3-point shot instead of a big man (who may or not not be able to shoot that shot). If you run the action with 5, 5 can shoot or pass to 3 in the corner (Frame 3: 3 would be in the corner instead of 5). Once 3 has it, 5 can follow and set a ball screen for 3 to attack middle with the dribble.
