Wes Kosel will enter his first season as an Assistant Coach at Augustana University under Tom Billeter in 2016-2017. Kosel came to Sioux Falls after two season at Colorado College as the lead assistant. Kosel, a native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, served as an assistant coach at Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Texas Lutheran University from 2012-2014. Kosel graduated from the University of Kansas in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He also has a master’s degree in physical education from the University of Houston. While attending Kansas, Kosel served as an assistant coach at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. A life-long student of the game, Kosel honed his coaching skills by working summer camps for various programs in Texas, Colorado, Missouri, and New Mexico. Kosel also is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Certified Personal Trainer, both of which are certifications earned through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Kosel and his wife, Molly, live in Colorado Springs.



Billy Kennedy Texas A&M Horns Set Plays by Wes Kosel

This playbook has four horns set plays from Texas A&M Aggies Head Coach Billy Kennedy. Kennedy has been at Texas A&M for 5 seasons, and has coached 18 seasons as a Head Coach. His head coaching stops include: Centenary (Louisiana), Southeastern Louisiana, Murray State, and Texas A&M. He has had many assistant coaching jobs including: Southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans, Wyoming, Northwestern State, Tulane, Texas A&M, Creighton, California, and Miami. He was the 2016 SEC Coach of the Year, the OCV Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011, and Southland Coach of the Year in 2004.

Horns Down

1 passes to 5 then cuts around him to set a down screen in the corner. If 1 gets the ball back, 5 sets a side ball screen and 3 cuts out to the perimeter.

Horns Rub

1 passes to 4 at the high post and then cuts in front of 4 setting a rub screen as 4 drives right. 5 does the same creating a double rub action for 4 to drive to the rim.

Horns Shuffle Stagger

1 passes to 5 stepping out and 2 moves into the lane. 5 passes to 4 who passes to 1 cutting to the wing. Once 1 has it, 2 sets a shuffle screen for 5 and then 2 and 4 set a staggered screen for 3 in the corner.

Middle Pin Horns Twist

4 screens for 5 inside and then pops out to get the ball. 1 then cuts around 4 to screen for 2 in the corner. If 2 curls the screen, 1 pops out to get the ball. 4 can then set a ball screen for 1 as 5 set a down screen for 2 in the lane. If nothing is there when 2 gets the ball, 5 can set a flat ball screen in the slot for 2.
