I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Basketball is a team sport, there must be two sets, and each must have five players. The objective of this sport is to score points by putting the ball in the basket. This is a hoop that is 3.05 meters above the surface of the court from which a net hangs.

Depending on the position you make, the shot will have a score that goes from 2 or 3 points. You can also get 1 point if the shot is free for the lack of an opposing player. The team with the highest score will be the winner.

One of the main keys to being successful in basketball or any sport is consistency. If you practice your shots several days a week, you will improve your skills significantly.

Basketball History

Basketball is a sport that was invented in December 1891 by James Naismith, a Canadian professor of physical education. This teacher sought to create an activity where young people could practice it in a closed gym during the winter.

This is how basketball was born; today, its matches last 40 minutes; they are four periods of 10 minutes each. The exception to this rule is the games of the American NBA league, where the games last 48 minutes, are periods of 12 minutes each.

This sport worldwide is governed by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

During a season, you must have concentration and a lot of energy because it is a period that requires a lot of responsibility. That’s why experts recommend that in the off-season, you work and practice your weaknesses to achieve success. This is a very important recommendation for both coaches and players.
