I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. John Calipari has been known for the “Dribble Drive” Motion Offense that allows his players to create within space off the dribble and utilize strength and speed to attack. This years 2014-15 Kentucky Wildcats is undefeated and seeking a National Championship and Calipari has expanded his playbook to run a “Pro Style” Offense for this year’s talented squad. Calipari has employed a quality Motion Offense that allows his lineup to incorporate two big men on the floor and in position to take advantage of the size differential, with counters built into it that allows flexibility within it to run against a zone defense as well. They incorporate “Rubbing/Screening” the post, ball reversals and Pick and Roll opportunities into post ups. Along with his Motion Offense this playbook includes over 48 pages and 42 different sets that Kentucky has run against both man and zone defenses as well as end of Half/Game situations and Baseline/Sideline out of bounds sets. Calipari has run more “Horns” sets than ever before and all of these sets are included in this playbook. The 2014-15 Kentucky Wildcats playbook can improve your knowledge of how the best of the College Basketball run their offense, as well as improving and adding to your coaching arsenal.
