Coaches,
I need help with this basketball coaching request:
“I’m interested in any new cutting edge offensive schemes that can be used for an up tempo offense. I’ve studied Roy Williams fast break offense as well as a few others around the country but I can’t help but wonder if there are any new material involving this out there? Thank you for your time.”

Coach:
I would strongly suggest Porter and Smith’s Coaching The System as well as The Running Game by David Arseneault of Grinnell. There are also an abundance of DVDs from both Coaches Porter and Arseneault including practice tape that include various drillls to implement their full court “O” and “D”. Lastly, the original Basketball in the Fast Lane by Paul Westhead is really a good primer not only on the installation of the “O” component but how to practice to get there.
You may also want to look at Coach Peterman’s 7 seconds or less e-book from Mike D’Antoni’s offense but that only provides limitde amount of information on what they did at Phoenix for fast break/transition offense.

There is nothing more cutting edge than what Coach Arseneault offers in his Winning Formula:
W = 94 shots ppg (half of which are 3s) + 35% OREB + 32 Opponent TOs + 25 shot differential.
Grinnell College perenially leads the NCAA All Divisions in scoring (over 110 ppg), made three point shots (18.6 pg) and defensive TOs (27+).
The question of how to get to that point are found in the material I mentioned earlier.
