Steve Alford New Mexico Set Plays | Basketball Plays | Ryan Yoder

Steve Alford is one of the best players to come out of the state of Indiana and could flat out shoot the ball.  One thing that is always for certain when you watch his teams play is that they will run sets with multiple options to get a shooter a rhythm jump shot.  New Mexico ran this play at the beginning of the season to win a ball game at the end of regulation.

We put this set play in this season and ran it at least twice every game.  Typically we like to run the set at the end of the quarter or end of the game when we needed a quick three point look.  On the season we had 0 turnovers off the jump pass and it really put our shooters in a good position to knock down a shot.  For this set to work you have a to point guard that can make the read and make the correct pass according to how the defense is playing.

We have a new basketball coaching contributor in Ryan Yoder.  He is the Varisty Boys’ Basketball Coach at Lakeland High School in LaGrange, Indiana.  I think that you will really like his work.
