Melrose Middle School’s Screen the Screener Play | Ron Sen

Basketball Play: Screen the Screener

A Screen the Screener play implemented by Melrose Middle School and presented by coach Ron Sen:

From a 1-4 high set, the point guard dribbles to the right while the ball side guard sets a backscreen on the opposite high post for a cut to the block to your best post player for post isolation. The guard must be able to keep her dribble in case the first option is not available.

If the post entry is not immediately available, the guard reverses off a screen from the near post, who then gets a backscreen for a basket cut. The critical principle is creating confusion with ‘screen the screener’ action.
