Los Angeles Lakers Princeton Offense by Adam Spinella
Above is a breakdown of the Los Angeles Lakers new Princeton Offense run under Byron Scott. It is similar to the version of the Princeton offense he ran with the Cleveland Cavaliers as their head coach, predicated on ball movement and a lot of action in a tight amount of space. Scott’s offense is not friendly to the three pointer, and has drawn criticism for that. As you’ll see in the video, there are times when all five players are inside the three point line at the same time – not the best spacing you’ve ever seen.
The Los Angeles Lakers Offense will be a fairly complex and successful high school and/ or college offense. There are two other reads on the offense, both of which are designed for three-point shots. Both are annotated throughout the video: one is a pop-back option, which makes for a nice end of shot clock play, and the other is a stagger design for a guard with a good outside stroke.
