I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Kevin Ollie UCONN Huskies Blob Play by Dana Beszczynski

The UCONN Huskies under 3rd year Head Coach won last years NCAA Championship defeating the Kentucky Wildcats. Ollie had an open ear this summer when several NBA teams came inquiring about his availability, but his loyalty to the UCONN program is clear.

Ollie gets the most out of his players and his relationship with the players is quite evident. He is a rising young star in the coaching ranks and his NBA background shows in the quality sets the Huskies run throughout a game.

This simple misdirection BLOB is designed to get their best shooter a shot off a low ball side screen.

Coach Kevin Ollie grew up in a tough part of Los Angeles area and went on to get a basketball scholarship to the UCONN Huskies Basketball program. He was solid, but not spectacular. He was undrafted by the NBA, but had a 13 year career. After retirement, he became an assistant coach at his alma mater and then got the head coaching job. In just his second year on the job, Kevin Ollie led the UCONN Huskies to the National Championship.

Coach Beszczynski brings over twenty years of basketball coaching experience to Men’s Basketball HoopScoop. To date, he has worked at all levels of basketball, from High School and from the Collegiate Ranks to the Professional level in Europe. As a leader, Coach Beszczynski emphasizes that his program is built on the principles of hard work, dedication, and no one person is more important than the team. Coach Beszczynski has a very diverse coaching background. He is known for his individual development of post players, scouting & film breakdown, motivation, and game preparation.
