Kevin Durant is almost always talking about the need to work and get better after every Oklahoma City Thunder game. It’s been his what since he was on the first OKC Thunder team that was 3-29 and the joke of the league. Now just three years later, they are in the NBA Finals.
Durant isn’t about fireworks and glitz. He is made up of humility and hard work that is paying off in huge dividends for the OKC Thunder. He believes that there is always another level that you can go to. In basketball, you always can be better at something. He hasn’t seen a guy that totally dominates the game in every aspect so you can get better. It’s his mindset.
Kevin Durant became the seventh player in NBA history to win three straight scoring titles, averages 28 points per game, and set career highs in shooting percentage, 3-point shooting, rebounding, assists, and blocks. Yet, he still has the drive to improve everyday.
He isn’t satisfied, but he is happy how he is progressing. He believes that he has a long ways to go and that he has to get better at the mental part of the game like watching film and knowing where the defense is going to play. He just wants to keep improving.
Derek Fisher, who won five championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, believes that he is a person that tries to do right on and off the court. Kevin Durant treats people with respects and tries to do good things for other people. Fisher believes that Durant helps set the tone for the whole team to respect the fans, community, and organization. He is the one that sets the tone to work hard every day.
