Eddie Jordan Baseline-X Motion by Adam Spinella
Baseline-X Motion is a good offense to run with two big men that are not great scorers on the block and with three guards or wings that can handle the ball. There are plenty opportunities for a rim attack and a shot coming off a screen, especially once a team learns to run it quickly.
1 hits 2 on the wing then cuts thru to the short corner. 3 fills up and gets the pass as 1 comes off a baseline stagger. 4 will post-up looking for the post entry once 1 clears through, then the ball reverses to 3. 1 gets the ball coming off the second screen looking for a shot. As 1 gets the ball, 4 raises to the high post to set a backscreen for 3. The lob will be there if x2 sags too far.
The main scoring action comes here, where 5 and 3 both clear out to the short corners and the wing to open up the lane. As 4 catches the ball after setting the backscreen at the nail hole, 1 and 2 will x-cut off of him, looking to get a handoff and a clear run at the rim.
If no guard gets the handoff at the nail hole, 4 dribbles towards 3 on the wing and gives a dribble handoff. After the handoff, 4 and 5 both set downscreens on opposite sides of the floor to reset into a 3-out 2-in formation.
