Derrick Clark Metro State Basketball Lob Plays by Wes Kosel

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Derrick Clark Metro State – Denver Basketball Lob Plays by Wes Kosel

Attached are 3 lob plays from Metro State head coach Derrick Clark. Coach Clark just completed his 5th season as head coach for the Roadrunners. In those five years, he has compiled a 137-26 record. Clark played at Cal Lutheran under Coach Mike Dunlap. After that, he played overseas in Australia from 1995-1997. He got his first coaching job as an assistant at Metro State. He spent 8 seasons at Metro before spending 2 seasons at Air Force and 3 seasons at Colorado as an assistant. In 2010, he took over as head coach for Metro State. In 2013, the Roadrunners lost to Drury in the NCAA Division II National Championship Game. The next season, Metro State was undefeated in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and made it to the Division II Final Four again losing to an eventual champion, Central Missouri. In his 5 seasons as head coach, Metro has never lost more than five games in conference play and has finished first or second in the RMAC each season. He has won a remarkable 84% of all games and 86% of conference games.
