Basketball Coaching Clinic Notes | Vance Walberg 2012 Clovis West Basketball Clinic

Written by Coach Peterman

I have coached at the NCAA Division 2 (Southwestern Oklahoma State University), NAIA (USAO), and JUCO Levels (Blinn College and Carl Albert State College) as well as high school. I just felt that fellow coaches especially young coaches need to constantly work on their “game”. Just like the basketball players that we coach. We as coaches need to improve ourselves. That is my story and why I do this blog.

Today’s basketball coaching clinic notes are on Vance Walberg dribble drive motion offense from the 2012 Clovis West Basketball Clinic

These basketball coaching clinic notes are on Vance Walberg Dribble Drive Motion Offense and his new adjustments to his DDM, Half-Court Defense, Drills, and Plays. Coach Walberg was at the 2012 Clovis West Basketball Clinic when these notes were taken.  Coach Walberg talks about not starting your best five players in practice.  He talks about gaps, attacking, angles, and spacing on offense.  He likes to tell his point guard to not score in practice once a week so he can practice on passing the ball.  He talks about half court defense and that a good player can get one turn, and great players will get two or more turns.  He also talked about basketball drills and plays.
